i think the reason i don’t stick with tiling window managers of any kind is because the major ones always force the keyboard-centric workflow and it just doesn’t work for me, both because i work with a lot of graphics-heavy applications where you can’t do everything by the keyboard and i find managing windows solely with the keyboard to be unintuitive and somewhat frustrating.

i like the approach cosmic takes with it, but given that it’s beta-quality software, i’m not really going to daily drive it (although there definitely will be a point where i give it serious consideration, really like that there’s another desktop that isn’t just rearranging gnome or kde bits to try and make something work). the forge extension for gnome has almost always been there, but i’d rather not have to deal with gnome shell’s lack of customization and poor performance.

settled on an actively maintained fork of krohnkite, a tiler for kde plasma, the desktop environment i already use on my debian machine. it works pretty well, a little rough but it definitely meets my needs/wants better than a standalone twm
